Another shock for Google employees! In the wake of layoffs, fewer promotions are being offered this year.

In a further blow to Google employees, the company has announced that it will be offering fewer promotions this year.

The news comes in the wake of recent layoffs at the tech giant, which have left many workers uncertain about their future at the company.

In the past, Google was considered to be the most trusted company by its customers as well as its employees.

However, since the pandemic emerged, Google employees started losing confidence in the company.

Recently, Google’s customer base has also started to lose trust in the company, primarily because Google’s ‘Bard AI’ has proven ineffective in competing with Chat GPT.

According to sources within Google, the decision to cut back on promotions is part of a broader cost-cutting strategy aimed at improving the company’s financial performance.

This year, only a dozen of the employees at Google will get promoted to senior positions, according to a report by CNBC.

While the move is likely to be unpopular among employees who were hoping to advance their careers, Google executives argue that it is necessary to ensure the long-term success of the company.

“We know that this news will be difficult for some of our employees to hear,” a spokesperson for Google said in a statement.

“But we want to be transparent about the challenges we’re facing and the steps we’re taking to address them.

We remain committed to supporting our employees and helping them grow in their careers, even in the face of difficult decisions.”

While Google remains one of the most successful and profitable in the world, it has faced growing scrutiny in recent years over issues such as data privacy, antitrust violations, and worker treatment.

Because of the slow growth of the company, Google announced in January 2023 that they would lay off about 12,000 employees worldwide.

If this happens, the layoffs will represent approximately 6% of the total workforce around the world.

For now, it remains to be seen how the news of fewer promotions will affect morale and retention among Google employees.

But with many workers already feeling the strain of layoffs and other cost-cutting measures, the news is likely to be met with disappointment and concern.
