Youtube to discontinue stories very soon

Primary Highlight: YouTube will very soon discontinue stories and start focusing on shorts and community posts.

Just recently, YouTube announced that they will discontinue the YouTube stories feature and will primarily give their attention to the shorts and community posts.

The reason for this is, YouTube believes that the shorts feature and community posts of that are more useful than their stories feature.

This new update will be somewhat similar to the disappearing message feature of Instagram and Snapchat.

This new update is set to roll out on the day of 26th of June, 2023.

The Fall of YouTube Stories over the Years

The YouTube Stories feature was launched back in 2018 and was available to those content creators who have more than 10,000 subscribers.

The reason YouTube executed this feature was, they wanted creators to share some sneak peeks and behind-the-scenes videos of their upcoming videos with their followers.

The decision of discontinuing the stories feature was made by YouTube because of the mixed to negative reviews YouTube received over it by the people.

They received mixed to negative reviews because YouTube shorts lacked the swipe-up functionality and also the functionality of video embedding.
