The YouTube Stories feature was launched back in 2018 and was available to those content creators who have more than 10,000 subscribers.
The reason YouTube executed this feature was, they wanted creators to share some sneak peeks and behind-the-scenes videos of their upcoming videos with their followers.
The decision of discontinuing the stories feature was made by YouTube because of the mixed to negative reviews YouTube received over it by the people.
They received mixed to negative reviews because YouTube shorts lacked the swipe-up functionality and also the functionality of video embedding.
